Alloy 718 is a nickel alloy with 50–55% nickel, 17–21% chromium, 4.75–5.5% niobium and 2.8–3.3% molybdenum, plus titanium and aluminium. Niobium, titanium and aluminium form the precipitates that harden it. In the solution treated and aged condition (AMS 5662/5663 type minimum) it delivers 1,240 MPa minimum tensile strength, 1,030 MPa minimum yield and 12% minimum elongation. Engineers choose it for gas turbine discs, shafts and casings, oilfield and downhole tools, high-temperature fasteners and springs, rocket and aerospace parts and cryogenic tankage.
Alloy 718 is a special alloy, so we act as your sourcing partner: our metallurgists and mill network find the material, check it against your specification and deliver it across India and to partner markets abroad. We supply it as round bars in Ø 29–500 mm and square bars in 40–480 mm from our high-alloy range, and as rolled round bars in Ø 16–500 mm. Delivery condition is solution annealed or solution treated and aged. Send us your size, condition and quantity and we quote by quantity and size.

Delivery Condition and Heat Treatment
Alloy 718 gets its strength from precipitation hardening. The bar is solution annealed first, which leaves it soft enough to machine, then aged to reach full strength. Typical ageing is a hold at about 720 °C, a furnace cool to about 620 °C and a second hold, giving 1,240 MPa minimum tensile and 1,030 MPa minimum yield.
If you want to machine before ageing, we supply solution annealed bar and you age the finished part. If you want the strength ready on arrival, we supply it solution treated and aged. Machining aged 718 is slow and hard on tooling, so rough it in the solution annealed condition where you can.
Alloy 718 welds well in the solution annealed condition and resists cracking after welding better than most other precipitation-hardening nickel alloys. Age the part after welding to restore strength.

Alloy 718 / UNS N07718 Questions
What is the difference between Alloy 625 and Alloy 718?
718 is precipitation-hardened and far stronger: 1,030 MPa minimum yield aged, against 414 MPa annealed for 625. 625 resists corrosion better and needs no ageing. Choose 718 for strength up to about 700 °C and 625 for corrosive service.
Is Alloy 718 the same as Inconel 718?
Yes. Inconel® is the Special Metals trade name for the alloy, also called Alloy 718, UNS N07718 and 2.4668 (NiCr19Fe19Nb5Mo3). All are direct matches in our records, and we supply to ASTM B637 Type 1 chemistry.
What strength does Alloy 718 reach after ageing?
Solution treated and aged 718 gives 1,240 MPa minimum tensile strength, 1,030 MPa minimum yield and 12% minimum elongation, at the AMS 5662/5663 type minimum. Send us your specification if your drawing calls for other values.
Do you supply Alloy 718 solution annealed or aged?
Both. Solution annealed bar machines more easily and you age it after machining. Solution treated and aged bar arrives at full strength. Tell us which your process needs.
What hardness does Alloy 718 reach?
Aged 718 is typically in the range of 36–44 HRC, depending on the exact treatment. Send us the hardness or strength your drawing requires and we supply it in that condition.
What is the minimum order for Alloy 718?
OneKaizen quotes by quantity and size. Send us your form, size, condition and quantity and we come back with the supply plan and price.
