INDUSTRY FAQ

Steel Questions from Each Industry.

What steel is used for automotive components?

Automotive shafts, studs and pins use medium carbon and alloy steels such as EN8 and EN19. Gears and transmission parts use case-hardening grades such as 16MnCr5, 20MnCr5 and SAE 8620. We supply all of them as bright bar or round bar.

Which steel grades do forging companies use?

Forgers commonly use EN8, EN19, EN24 and EN31, plus case-hardening and microalloyed grades. We supply them as round bar, peeled or cut to length, and source heavy forgings through our forging partner.

What steel is used for fasteners?

Fastener makers use cold heading wire in grades such as SWRCH, 10B21 and SAE 1006–1080. We draw wire rod of Ø 5.5–40 mm to bright wire of Ø 1.5–37 mm to your size and tensile range.

What steel is used for earth-moving equipment?

Earth-moving equipment uses high strength alloy steels such as EN19, EN24 and 42CrMo4 for pins, shafts and gears. They are usually supplied quenched and tempered. See our heat treated bars.

Can you quote to a component drawing?

Yes. Send us the drawing, the material specification, the quantity and the delivery location. We come back with the grade, the processing route and the price.

Do you supply gear blanks, shafts and special components?

Yes. OneKaizen supplies gear blanks, shafts and special forgings to drawing, sourced through our mills and forging partners.

Do you supply customers outside Maharashtra?

Yes. OneKaizen delivers across India, and we act as a sourcing partner for buyers abroad in countries such as Italy, Spain, Turkey, Korea and Japan.

What documents do automotive customers get?

Every heat ships with an EN 10204 3.1 mill test certificate. Tensile, hardness and ultrasonic testing are available on request.
