Monel Alloys Questions
What is Monel?
Monel is the trade name of a family of nickel-copper alloys. They resist seawater, brine, alkalis and many acids, and keep their toughness over a wide temperature range.
Which Monel grades does OneKaizen supply?
OneKaizen supplies Monel 400 and K-500. Send us the grade or UNS number on your order.
What is the difference between Monel 400 and K-500?
Monel 400 is a solid solution alloy with good corrosion resistance. K-500 adds aluminium and titanium, so it can be age hardened to about three times the yield strength.
Monel or stainless steel: which should I choose?
Monel resists seawater and hydrofluoric acid better than stainless steel and does not suffer chloride stress cracking. Stainless steel costs less where the service is milder.
What forms and sizes do you supply?
Round bar from Ø 29 to 500 mm, with sheet, plate and forgings to order. Rolled bar goes up to Ø 350 mm and larger sizes come forged.
Do you supply certificates?
Yes. OneKaizen ships every lot with a mill certificate showing chemistry and mechanical tests, traced to the heat number.
What is the minimum order?
The minimum order depends on grade and size, and OneKaizen confirms it on enquiry. OneKaizen supplies to the UNS or ASTM grade from approved mills. Monel is a trade name of Special Metals Corporation.
Final grades, sizes and condition are confirmed against the mill's range and your order before we quote.
