Which Finishing Route Does Your Bar Need?
How We Do It
Hot rolled round or hex bar in the grade you specify, sourced from our mill network.
Bright Bar Manufacturing
Bright bar at your finished size, finish and length, with a mill test certificate.
- Select the stock. We choose the mill and heat for your grade from our network of Indian and international mills.
- Choose the finish route. Cold drawing gives size control and a stronger bar. Peeling removes the skin. Grinding gives the tightest tolerance.
- Process the bar. We draw, peel or grind in-house and through our partner mills.
- Straighten, cut to length and inspect against your drawing.
- Ship with an EN 10204 3.1 mill test certificate for every heat.
Why Use Bright Bar Manufacturing?
A bright bar arrives at your machine already clean, close to size and straight. You remove less material, cut faster and scrap fewer parts than with hot rolled bar.
When Should You Choose It?
Pick cold drawing when you need size accuracy and a higher strength bar. Pick peeling when you need the surface skin gone before turning or forging. Pick grinding when your part runs without further turning and needs IT9 to IT6. If you are unsure, send us the part drawing and we will recommend the route.
Common Questions
How is bright bar made?
OneKaizen starts with a hot rolled bar and finishes it by cold drawing, peeling or grinding. Each route removes the rough hot rolled surface and brings the bar to a controlled size. We then straighten, cut and inspect it.
How is steel round bar made?
Steel is melted, cast into blooms or billets and hot rolled into round bar. That bar is called hot rolled or black bar. We take it further to a bright bar when you need a better surface and tighter size.
What is bright bar steel?
Bright bar steel is any steel grade supplied as a bright bar: carbon, free-cutting, case-hardening, alloy, bearing, spring or stainless. The word "bright" describes the finish, not the grade.
Which finishing route should I choose?
Choose drawing for size accuracy and strength, peeling to remove the skin, and grinding for IT9 to IT6 tolerance and Ra 0.8 μm or better. Tell us your part and next operation and we will pick the route.
What tolerances do we hold?
Drawn bars are h9 to h11 under EN 10278. Peeled bars are typically h11. Ground bars are IT9 to IT6.
Which grades do we run?
Common grades are C20, C45, 16MnCr5, 42CrMo4 and 100Cr6, and we supply 100+ grades across carbon, alloy, bearing, spring and stainless steels. Send us your grade for confirmation.
What is the minimum order?
Minimum order is 3 tonnes, flexible depending on grade and size.
What documents come with the bars?
Every heat ships with an EN 10204 3.1 mill test certificate. Tensile, hardness and ultrasonic testing are available on request.
