Duplex & Super Duplex Stainless Steel Questions
What is duplex stainless steel?
Duplex stainless steel has a mixed ferrite and austenite structure. It is about twice as strong as 304 or 316 and resists chloride stress corrosion cracking.
What is the difference between duplex 2205 and super duplex 2507?
Super duplex 2507 has more chromium, molybdenum and nitrogen than 2205. It gives higher strength and better pitting resistance in hot seawater and harsh chloride service.
What is the difference between duplex and 316?
Duplex gives about twice the yield strength of SS 316 and far better resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking. SS 316 is easier to form and weld.
Which duplex grades do you supply?
OneKaizen supplies Duplex 2205 (S31803 / S32205), Duplex 2304, LDX 2101, Super Duplex 2507 (S32750) and Super Duplex S32760.
Is Duplex 2205 the same as UNS S32205?
Yes. 2205 is covered by UNS S31803 and S32205. State which designation your specification calls for when you order.
What forms and sizes are available?
Round bar from Ø 29 to 500 mm, with rolled bar up to Ø 350 mm and larger sizes forged. Plate and forgings to order. We confirm availability before we quote.
Do you supply certificates, and what is the minimum order?
Yes. Every lot ships with a mill test certificate showing chemistry and mechanical tests, traced to the heat number. The minimum order depends on grade and size. We confirm it on enquiry.
