Gear Blanks Questions

What do you need to quote a gear blank?

Send the drawing, grade, blank dimensions, quantity, required condition, inspection documents and delivery destination. We quote from those.

Do you cut gear teeth?

No. OneKaizen supplies the forged and machined blank ready for gear cutting. Teeth are cut by you or your gear cutter.

What sizes of gear blanks do you supply?

From 100 to 1,000 mm outside diameter, with bore and face width to your drawing.

Which grade is used for gear blanks, 20MnCr5 or 18CrNiMo7-6?

20MnCr5 suits most automotive and general gears. 18CrNiMo7-6 gives a tougher core for heavy, highly loaded gears and deeper case depths.

Is 20MnCr5 the same as SAE 8620?

They are close equivalents, not identical. 20MnCr5 has more manganese and chromium, and less nickel and molybdenum, than SAE 8620. Check critical gears with our team.

Do you machine the blanks in-house?

No. OneKaizen machines through our partner machine shops and forges through our forging partners. We heat treat in-house or through the partner and inspect every lot.

Can you supply blanks forged and normalised?

Yes. OneKaizen supplies gear blanks normalised or annealed to the hardness your gear cutter needs. Tell us the target hardness range.

Do you deliver gear blanks across India and for export?

Yes. OneKaizen delivers to plants across India and exports to buyers abroad with export packing and documents.

Sizes, grades and tolerances above are our standard range. Other sizes and grades are available on request. Final values are confirmed against your drawing and the mill certificate.
