We source from partner mills in India and abroad, and through forging partners for large sections. | As per ASTM A276 · ASTM A479 · EN 10088 or the order standard | Mill certificate · Chemistry · Hardness · Mechanical tests · PMI as specified |
Processing on SS 400 Series
OneKaizen cuts 400 series stainless to your size and can peel or turn bar in-house. Hardening goes through the heat treatment route your order needs.
| Processing route | Typical scope | Output / control |
|---|---|---|
| Cut to length | Bar, plate and sheet to your size | Length · end condition |
| Peeling or turning | Selected grades and bar sizes | Diameter · surface finish |
| Heat treatment | Annealing · hardening and tempering, grade-specific | Hardness · mechanical properties |
| Inspection | Against your order and the grade standard | Chemistry · hardness · PMI as specified |

SS 400 Series Questions
What is SS 400 series stainless steel?
It is the ferritic and martensitic group of stainless steels, such as 410, 430 and 440C. They are magnetic, contain little or no nickel, and the martensitic grades harden by heat treatment.
What is the difference between SS 400 and SS 300 series?
The 400 series is magnetic and lower in cost, and the martensitic grades can be hardened. The 300 series is austenitic and non-magnetic, with better corrosion resistance and formability.
What is the difference between 410 and 420?
SS 420 has more carbon than SS 410, so it hardens to a higher level and suits cutting edges and wear parts. SS 410 gives better toughness and general corrosion resistance.
Which 400 series grades do you supply?
OneKaizen supplies 409, 410, 410S, 416, 420, 430, 431 and 440A/B/C. Ask us for any other grade.
What forms and sizes are available?
OneKaizen supplies bar, sheet and plate to order. Sizes depend on the grade and the mill, so send us the form and size and we confirm before we quote.
Do SS 400 series products come with certificates?
Yes. Every lot ships with a mill test certificate showing chemistry and mechanical tests, traced to the heat number. Hardness and PMI are available as specified.
What is the minimum order?
The minimum order depends on grade and size. We confirm it on enquiry.
Grades, sizes and heat treatment condition are confirmed against your order standard and the mill certificate before we quote.
