How We Do It
Steel sheet, coil or bar in your grade.
Cut to Length
Pieces cut to your length, with ends finished to your requirement and the grade identified.
- Confirm input form, grade, section and the length list.
- Cut. We choose the cutting method for the grade and section.
- Check length and end condition against the order.
- Mark, bundle and certify so each lot is traceable to its heat.
Why Use Cut to Length?
Buying material in the length you use saves you a cutting step, cuts handling and offcut waste, and lets your line start with a known blank size.
When Should You Choose It?
Ask for cut lengths when your line uses a fixed blank, such as forging slugs, shaft blanks or press blanks. For bar that also needs a finished surface, order cut lengths of bright bar. For narrower coil rather than shorter pieces, see steel slitting.
Common Questions
What is cut to length?
Cut to length is a process that cuts steel sheet, coil or bar into pieces of a fixed length. The pieces are then ready to load into the next stage of your production.
What is a cut to length line?
A cut to length line uncoils a steel coil, levels it flat and shears it into sheets of a set length. Bars are cut to length on sawing or shearing equipment instead.
Which materials do you cut to length?
OneKaizen cuts carbon, alloy, stainless and non-ferrous materials in sheet, coil and bar form. The grade stays identified on every piece or bundle.
What length tolerance can you hold?
OneKaizen agrees the length tolerance and end condition with you against your drawing. Tell us the tolerance your next operation needs when you ask for a quote.
Can you cut bright bars and round bars?
Yes. OneKaizen cuts round bars and bright bars to your lengths, and we can cut them after drawing, peeling or grinding.
How do I work out how many pieces I get from a bar?
Divide the bar length by your cut length plus the saw allowance. Use our metal weight calculator to find the weight of each piece.
What do I send for a quote?
Send us the grade, input form and size, cut length and tolerance, quantity and delivery point. We come back with the price, route and delivery date.
