What do metallurgical consultants do?
A metallurgical consultant studies why a steel part behaves the way it does and tells you what to change. That can be the grade, the heat treatment, the process route or the specification. Our metallurgists do this for manufacturers across India.
Can you do failure analysis of a heat treated component?
Yes. Send us the failed part, the drawing, the material and heat treatment records and the service conditions. We review them, identify the likely failure mode and tell you which tests to run to confirm it.
What are the common types of steel failure?
The common types are fatigue (repeated load), overload (ductile or brittle fracture), wear, corrosion and cracking from heat treatment or hydrogen. The fracture surface and the microstructure usually show which one it was.
Can you help me replace one steel grade with another?
Yes. OneKaizen compares chemistry, hardenability and mechanical properties against your drawing, and rates the substitute as a direct, close or approximate match. We do not call a close grade the same as the original.
Can you review my steel specification or heat treatment process?
Yes. OneKaizen checks that the grade, the condition, the tolerances and the tests on your specification fit the duty of the part, and we mark what to tighten or relax. We can also review a heat treatment process against the grade.
What should I send you?
Send the drawing, the current grade and specification, the process route, the operating conditions and a short description of the problem. Photos of a failed part and any test reports help.
