Bearing Steel

Bearing steels are high-carbon chromium steels, led by EN31 / 100Cr6 / SAE 52100, made for very high hardness and rolling-contact fatigue life. Cleanliness from the mill is as important as chemistry.

When to Choose Bearing Steel

  • The part is a bearing race, ball, roller or bush
  • Very high surface hardness is needed
  • Rolling-contact fatigue limits the part's life
  • Gauges and wear parts need dimensional stability
