Through-Hardening Alloy Steel
Through-hardening alloy steels, such as EN19 and EN24, contain chromium, molybdenum and nickel so they harden across the whole section after quenching and tempering. They are used where high strength and toughness are needed throughout the part.
When to Choose Through-Hardening Alloy Steel
- The whole section must carry high stress
- Larger diameters still need full-section hardness
- Toughness under fatigue or impact is critical
- The part is a shaft, axle, bolt, crankshaft or heavy-duty component
