Mild Steel (MS) Questions
What is mild steel?
Mild steel is low carbon steel with under about 0.25% carbon. It is easy to weld, bend and machine, and cheaper than alloy steel.
What is the difference between MS and HR steel?
MS describes the material, low carbon steel, in any form. HR describes how a flat product was rolled.
Is IS 2062 E250 mild steel?
Yes. E250 is the standard Indian mild steel grade for plates, sections and bars, with a minimum yield of 250 MPa.
Which MS grade is the same as ASTM A36?
IS 2062 E250 is the closest Indian equivalent to A36. They are close, not identical, so check critical structural jobs.
Can you supply MS flats, angles and bars?
Yes. OneKaizen sources MS flats, angles and bars to order from partner mills, with a mill certificate.
Can MS be hardened by heat treatment?
Not through-hardened, because carbon is too low. It can be case hardened or carburised for wear surfaces.
Do you supply MS steel across India?
Yes. OneKaizen delivers to sites across India, including Pune, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Delhi NCR, and exports to buyers abroad.
What is S275JR in Indian grades?
S275JR is the EN 10025 grade nearest to IS 2062 E275. We supply it as sheet and coil.
